Job Summary
The Assistant Financial Controller will support the Financial Controller in the daily financial operations of the company, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budgeting, and cash flow management. The role is crucial in preparing Management Information System (MIS) reports to aid strategic decision-making.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation of MIS reports, including financial performance analysis, budgeting, and forecasting to support management decision-making.
- Monitor and analyze cash flow, ensuring optimal liquidity management and identifying potential financial risks.
- Assist in preparing and maintaining financial reports, statements, and reconciliations in compliance with IFRS and company policies.
- Support the Financial Controller in budget preparation and financial planning processes, including variance analysis and cost control initiatives.
- Monitor cost structures, helping to identify areas for cost optimization and improved financial efficiency.
- Work with other departments to ensure accurate data collection for budgeting and financial reporting.
- Ensure compliance with tax laws and regulatory requirements, assisting in liaising with tax authorities, consultants, and auditors.
- Assist in the preparation of periodic management and board reports, including financial health assessments and KPI tracking.
- Assist in audits, ensuring that all financial documentation and reports are accurate and available as needed.
- Perform ad-hoc financial analysis and reporting tasks as assigned by the Financial Controller.
Requirements – Education and Work Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or a related field.
- Professional certification (or in progress) such as ACA, ACCA, CIMA, CPA is a plus.
- Minimum 1-2 years of experience in financial reporting, budgeting, or management accounting, preferably in a manufacturing or FMCG environment.
- Experience in MIS reporting and financial modeling is an advantage.
- Strong knowledge of IFRS, financial controls, and statutory regulations.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, QuickBooks, or Tally ERP systems).
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Additional Information
- The role may require occasional travel.
- Candidates based outside Lagos should be willing to relocate or travel as needed.
